Small Farm

Really Big Dreams

Sleepy Bees Lavender Farm came into existence with the first planting of 1700 Phenomenal Lavender plants the first week of May 2018.  Owners Jerry and Holly McCabe had the vision to bring lavender to their farm just south of Lincoln Nebraska.  Planting first on three-quarters of an acre, they are testing the waters to see if the finicky plants will grow in this climate. The vision is to have two complementing niche resources, lavender and honey bees, working together in unison.  If the lavender and the bees survive through the first winter they will increase the number of plants and hives and create products from their goods.  Creating Beautiful Products Naturally will be their mission, using all natural lavender and the beeswax and honey they will produce on the farm. They will have many natural aromatherapy, bath and beauty, culinary, and even pet products available on the website.

Please check out the blog, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter for a more in-depth and ongoing story of their journey, as well as the website for all your shopping and gifting needs.

Why do we need bees?

Bees pollinate about 75% of our food crops including fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, and flowers. Without them, many of these foods would not have been able to reproduce. In addition to their role in agriculture, bees play a critical role in maintaining biodiversity and providing habitat for wildlife. This is why we raise our own bees to help add to the dwindling bee population.
